    CAIRO, Egypt (BP) -- Christian persecution continues in Egypt amid the terroristic slaughter of more than 300 Sufi Muslims during worship at a North Sinai mosque, Morning Star News reported.

    Weeks before the Nov. 24th attack at the Al-Rawdah Mosque, attributed to Muslim terrorists who carried an Islamic State (ISIS) flag, Coptic Christians in the country already faced the closure of many Christian houses of worship for fear of similar attacks, Morning Star reported Nov. 27.     NASHVILLE (BP) -- Following a two-day evangelism training session in conjunction with the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in Phoenix, the Fellowship of Native American Christians is setting its sights on what executive director Gary Hawkins calls "self-propagating, self-promoting, self-supporting" efforts to reach American Indians for Christ.

    "It is absolutely essential for the [Gospel] message to become owned by indigenous people," Hawkins told Baptist Press in written comments. FoNAC must achieve "a contextualized, culturally relevant ministry while maintaining doctrinal soundness." Read More

    ALEXANDRIA/TANTA, Egypt (BP) -- As Coptic Christians bury an estimated 44 killed in terrorist bombings during Palm Sunday services in Egypt, the oldest Coptic church in the U.S. is praying for both the families of the Christian "martyrs" and the Islamic State (IS) that has claimed responsibility for the deaths.

    The attacks at St. George's Church in Tanta and at St. Mark's Cathedral in Alexandria also wounded more than 125 worshippers, Morning Star News reported, making the bombings more deadly than the 2016 Christmas bombing at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in suburban Cairo. Last year's attack that killed 24 and wounded 50 had been considered Egypt's worst bombing against Christians in the nation's history. Read More

    NASHVILLE (BP) -- Conservative Christians will gain influence under President-elect Donald Trump's term, more than half of respondents polled in a Pew Research study believe.

    Conversely, Hispanics, the poor, and gays and lesbians will lose influence under Trump, a majority of those polled told Pew. Nearly half of respondents said African Americans and women are poised to lose.

    "The public's assessments of the groups that will gain and lose influence in Trump's presidency are sharply different than before Barack Obama took office eight years ago," Pew said in its findings released Jan. 18. "In many cases, they mirror views of expected 'winners' and 'losers' under George W. Bush before he took office in January 2001." Read More
