    BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (BP) -- After surviving a fiery explosion that nearly killed him, Kentucky megachurch pastor Steve Ayers said he's a changed man, having come out of the ordeal laser-focused on Jesus and telling others about the Gospel before it's too late.

    "I was committed to evangelism before the accident," said Ayers, senior pastor of the 16,000-member Hillvue Heights Church in Bowling Green, which routinely baptizes more than 500 new believers a year.     GADSDEN, Ala. (BP) -- In 1995, Joey Hanner was a trucker who was about to give up on his marriage -- and he was one Sunday service away from giving up on church too.

    "We were going to give church one more try and then we were going to end our marriage," he said.

    WELSH, La. (BP) -- The waters may have receded several months ago but the excitement at First Baptist Church hasn't subsided.

    First came the rain to Welsh, La. -- nearly 24 inches in a 24-hour period during widespread flooding in the southern part of the state.

    NASHVILLE (BP) -- Claims that George Washington and Abraham Lincoln both underwent secretive baptisms by immersion have drawn scrutiny from Baptist historians surrounding Presidents Day.

    LEESVILLE, La. (BP) -- Sherry Slaydon gave her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren a priceless gift -- the opportunity to celebrate her new life in Christ by being present at her baptism.
