Directors of Missions to highlight theme of 'DOM: Missionary at Heart'

PHOENIX (BP)--Missionary zeal will be underscored during the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Directors of Missions' 42nd annual meeting June 15-16 in Phoenix.

"The DOM: Missionary at Heart" will be the theme of the conference, which opens with a 9:45 a.m. worship service Sunday, June 15. The president's address, by Don Reed, director of missions from Kansas City, Kan., is slated for the Sunday afternoon session.

Ernie Perkins, a humorist and director of missions from Oklahoma City, will deliver the after-dinner entertainment Sunday evening.

Also featured during the two-day conference will be Carlisle Driggers, the current co-chair of the SBC's Empowering Kingdom Growth Task Force and executive director-treasurer of the South Carolina Baptist Convention, and O.S. Hawkins, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Annuity Board.

Charles and Helen Nunn of Pawleys Island, S.C., will be recognized for six years of service in the role of SBCADOM administrator/treasurer.

The conference's meetings will be at the Phoenix Airport Marriott Hotel.

Anne Graham Lotz, author and conference speaker, addressed the group at last year's meeting. Lotz encouraged messengers to stay "focused, fired up and faithful" to the Bible and the ministry God has for them.

Current SBCADOM officers are president, Reed; first vice president, Jim Freedman, director of missions from Nashville, Tenn.; second vice president, Nodell Dennis, director of missions from Kansas City, Mo.; editor of the association's newsletter, DOM Viewpoint, John Brackin, director of missions from West Palm Beach, Fla.; and recording secretary, Ernest Sadler, director of missions from Jackson, Miss.
