    WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Donald Trump on Tuesday turned up the pressure on governors to quell the violence set off by the death of George Floyd, demanding New York call up the National Guard to stop the "lowlifes and losers."

    As cities around the U.S. witnessed a seventh consecutive night of both peaceful demonstrations and bursts of looting, vandalism and attacks on police – the attacks included multiple officers shot in several cities – the president amplified his calls of a day earlier, in which he threatened to send in the military to restore order if governors didn't do it.     WASHINGTON (BP) -- The U.S. Senate acquitted President Donald Trump of impeachment charges Wednesday (Feb. 5) in only the third such action in American history.

    Senators voted 52-48 against an article of impeachment brought by the U.S. House of Representatives that charged the president with abuse of power. They also voted 53-47 against an article accusing him of obstruction of Congress. As expected, the Senate fell far short of the two-thirds majority needed to convict and remove Trump from office.     Speaking on the eve of a Senate impeachment vote, Trump urged the joint session of Congress to approve legislation "finally banning the late-term abortion of babies."     WASHINGTON (BP) -- The third impeachment of a president in American history came Wednesday night (Dec. 18) in a still deeply divided U.S. House of Representatives and country.

    The House passed two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump without any Republican members voting for them. Democrats voted 230-197 to approve an article charging the president with abuse of power and 229-198 for a charge of obstruction of Congress. Two Democratic members voted against the abuse of power article and three against the obstruction article. Read More

    WASHINGTON (BP) -- The U.S. House of Representatives' nearly party-line vote Thursday (Oct. 31) in support of a presidential impeachment inquiry for only the fourth time in American history reflected the deep division in Congress and the country over the issue.

    The House voted 232-196 for a resolution instructing committees to continue their investigations into whether evidence exits to impeach President Trump and establishing rules for the process. No Republican members voted for the resolution, while only two Democrats voted against it. Read More
