LifeWay search committee now accepting nominationsNASHVILLE (BP) -- The LifeWay Christian Resources presidential search committee is accepting nominations for a successor to Thom Rainer, chairman Kent Dacus has announced.
The search committee met Monday, Sept. 24, to develop a process for their search of the new LifeWay president and CEO, Dacus reported.
The committee, which is accepting nominations at LifeWayCEO@carterbaldwin.com, will work with the executive search firm CarterBaldwin to identify potential candidates. Read More
LifeWay workers 'fine' after bullet destroys windowNASHVILLE (BP) -- "Employees are fine" a day after a bullet destroyed a fifth-floor window at LifeWay Christian Resources' downtown Nashville complex, company spokesperson Carol Pipes told Baptist Press.
"We're just really thankful no one was hurt," said Pipes, LifeWay director of corporate communications, who noted police are investigating the incident. The window, destroyed by the shot, is nearly level to nearby Interstates 40 and 65.

Thom Rainer announces retirement from LifeWayNASHVILLE (BP) -- LifeWay Christian Resources President and CEO Thom S. Rainer announced Monday (Aug. 27) his plans to retire in the coming year.
To provide adequate time for the search process for the next president and CEO and for a smooth transition, Rainer said he will serve until a new president is named or through the end of August 2019, whichever comes first. Read More
LifeWay's Selma Wilson announces retirementNASHVILLE (BP) -- Selma Wilson, senior vice president of organizational development and chief people officer at LifeWay Christian Resources, has announced she will retire effective Oct. 1.
"It has been an incredible honor to be a part of the mission of LifeWay for the past 28 years," Wilson said. "I am overcome with thankfulness God allowed me to be a part of this great organization -- the churches and people it serves, the authors and ministry partners, and the most committed employee team anywhere."
Wilson joined the Sunday School Board (now LifeWay) in 1990 as a marriage and family consultant, providing training and events for churches. Three years later, she led in the development of LifeWay's women's ministry and launched Journey, a women's monthly devotional magazine for which she served as editor-in-chief from 1993-98. Read More
'Baptist Hymnal' celebrates 10-year anniversaryNASHVILLE (BP) -- This August, LifeWay Christian Resources is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the latest Baptist Hymnal. It's a milestone Mike Harland, director of LifeWay Worship, finds humbling -- especially considering a physical form of the 2008 hymnal wasn't initially supposed to exist.
"The original idea was that a new hymnal for Baptists would be digital only." Harland said. "But we did extensive research and discovered almost half of the churches we served still held hymnals every week." Read More
Geiger leaving LifeWay, joining Calif. church staffNASHVILLE (BP) -- Eric Geiger, senior vice president of LifeWay Christian Resources, has accepted a call as senior pastor of Mariners Church in Irvine, Calif., beginning in September.
Geiger came to LifeWay as vice president of LifeWay's Resources Division in February 2011.

James L. Sullivan; the tower is gone, legacy remainsNASHVILLE (BP) -- Thirteen years after the death of the man for whom it was named, the 11-story Sullivan Tower was imploded on Saturday (July 21) in Nashville.
Now all that remains are James L. Sullivan's monumental legacy as a lifelong Southern Baptist and more than 60 record boxes of his papers in the Southern Baptist Library and Historical Archives.
