  MARIETTA, Ga. (BP) -- Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga., received a record $5.1 million in a single day for Great Commission causes, collected to honor outgoing senior pastor Bryant Wright and his wife Anne for 38 years of service.

  Receipts will be divided among the International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board and the church's ministry budget, said Clay Smith, Johnson Ferry's incoming senior pastor. Read More

  MARIETTA, Ga. (BP) -- The search team for Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, Marietta, Ga., announced Sunday (July 14) that North Carolina pastor Clay Smith will preach in view of a call on Aug. 4 to occupy the pulpit previously filled by former Southern Baptist Convention President Bryant Wright.

  Smith, who currently serves as senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Matthews, N.C., is an M.Div. graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Currently he is pursuing his doctorate from Southwestern. Read More

  MARIETTA, Ga. (BP) -- Johnson Ferry Baptist Church senior pastor and former Southern Baptist Convention President Bryant Wright announced from the pulpit Sunday morning (Nov. 25) that it's time for the church to begin the search for its next pastor.

  ATLANTA (BP) -- Some 600 people gathered at the Georgia Capitol Jan. 13 to support terminated Atlanta fire chief Kelvin Cochran and ask elected officials to preserve religious liberty.

  Following the rally, demonstrators delivered 40,000 petitions to Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed requesting Cochran's reinstatement. Reed fired Cochran Jan. 6 following his publication of a book that calls homosexual behavior immoral. Read More
