  ATLANTA (BP) -- "Five keys" are vital in transforming the culture of the Southern Baptist Convention to reach the world for Christ, SBC Executive Committee President Ronnie Floyd told two convention advancement groups Aug. 1-2 in Atlanta.

• Augusto Valverde, longtime Hispanic leader, dies at 71

  MIAMI (BP) -- Miami pastor Augusto Valverde, a longtime leader in the National Hispanic Fellowship of Southern Baptist Churches (Confraternidad Hispana Bautista Nacional), died Wednesday July 17. He was 71.

  Valverde, the fellowship's current president, had served in the post nine times since the early 2000s and also served several years as its executive director. Read More

  JONESBORO, Ga. (BP) -- Seang Yiv has been part of the Cambodian Southern Baptist Fellowship for nearly 30 years, but he's never heard a prayer quite like the one shared by Timothy Sieng at the fellowship's recent meeting.

  ATLANTA (BP) -- The Vietnamese Baptist Union of North America celebrated their largest-ever annual meeting -- 1,500 attendees -- when they gathered for four days in Atlanta.

  In their 35th annual meeting, the group adopted a new name, the Vietnamese Baptist Union of North America, from the previous Vietnamese Baptist Fellowship of North America. Read More

  BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (BP) -- "Partnership in the Gospel" will be the theme and church planting a main emphasis when the Filipino Southern Baptist Fellowship of North America convenes in conjunction with the 2019 Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting in Birmingham, Ala.

  The fellowship will shift its traditional Tuesday meeting time to Monday so fellowship members also can participate fully in the SBC annual meeting, which convenes June 11-12.
